A CRAFTS guild which has been creating spectacular works of art for more than 80 years is to exhibit member’s work in a Cotswolds town.

The Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen will host its summer show at Chipping Campden Town Hall from Saturday, August 15 until Sunday, August 23.

The exhibition will feature examples of glasswork, pottery, jewellery, textiles, leather, bookbinding, calligraphy and furniture as well as daily demonstrations by guild members on their chosen disciplines.

Among artists who will exhibit at the event will Rowan McOnegal, who was recently awarded a Continuing Professional Development award from the Worshipful Company of Glaziers, and Amanda Lawrence, who has collaborated with children’s book author Christine O’Neill.

A display of work by graduates from Hereford College of Arts will also be on show.

Guild member and felt maker Anne Rogers said she was pleased to show off her work in the Cotswolds.

“This has given the guild fresh energy and enabled us to display our work in a bright, modern contemporary space whilst the summer show celebrates our historic roots,” she said.

“Some of our founder members came from Chipping Campden and it feels right to be maintain those links.”

The guild was founded in 1933 with original members including Michael Cardew from Winchcombe Pottery and George Hart from Chipping Campden-based Harts Silversmiths.

The summer show at the town hall in the High Street is open daily from 10am until 6pm apart from Sunday, August 23, when it will close at 4pm. Admission is free.
