ADAM Henson, arguably England's best known farmer, is to talk about his life and times at a special event in Broadway.
He will introduce his new memoir Like Farmer, Like Son on Wednesday, June 22 at Lifford Hall in Lower Green, as part of the celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of Blandford Books in High Street.
Mr Henson, who is a presenter on television programmes Countryfile, Lambing Live and Secret Britain, and also runs Cotswold Farm Park at Kineton, near Cheltenham, said: "People say 'Like father, like son', and the story of my life has mirrored my father’s to a quite uncanny degree. Right from when I was a little boy, he was my rock, my mentor, my hero. It is no exaggeration to say he taught me virtually everything I know about both country life and television. Without him, I certainly would not be doing what I am today."
Adam's father Joe, who died in the autumn of 2015, overcame a serious stammer to become a regular broadcaster on country matters. And alongside his TV outings, by sheer grit and determination, and a little bit of luck thrown in, he became the saviour of Britain's Rare Breeds and opened the world's first farm park.
The event will run from 7pm until 9pm and tickets are on sale at £15, which will include a celebratory drink and a signed copy of “Like Farmer Like Son”. For more details phone Blandford Books on 01386 858588.
