WORCESTER Warriors director of rugby Dean Ryan says more signings are on their way.

Newcomers Cooper Vuna and Sam Lewis were revealed on Monday and more signings are imminent.

Ryan said: “At the cusp of the year we were having some difficulties and, suddenly, we have three or four signings which I think have changed the dynamics of what this place will look like in the future.

“Some of the players have been announced and some of them haven’t yet.

“Talks are on-going all the time — there are people we are talking to and people we’ve concluded.

“There are players who we think can add to this business.

“Phil Dowson was a clear pick to come in and enhance this place culturally alongside Gerrit-Jan van Velze, Jonathan Thomas and Chris Pennell.

“I don’t think we will be doing another one in that ilk, but I think there are players of calibre and experience that are coming to really add something.

“We haven’t got wholesale changes. The focus is about adding quality. We have got a really good group and the key now is to get ourselves in the right shape for the play- offs.”

Ryan acknowledged that time is running out for players at Sixways who are out of contract at the end of the season.

“If you haven’t signed a new contract by now you’re either in a 50/50 category on whether you will be offered a new contract or you won’t be offered one at all.

“There are some people who we are not renewing because we have recruited in that area.”

Vuna and Lewis are expected to feature for Worcester in Saturday’s Greene King IPA Championship home clash against Plymouth Albion (3pm).

Ryan said: “It is a big couple of weeks at the club in terms of defining which players will be involved in the play-offs and for some it will be whether they get a new contract.”
