EVESHAM kept up their bid for a Midlands Four West (South) runners-up spot with a 22-5 win at Coventry Welsh.

Against a much heavier home pack, a young Evesham outfit were tested up front but coped well.

They defended well playing uphill into the wind yet struggled for field position.

But man of the match Stuart Smart won a line-out, enabling Evesham to build and Fraser Goggin sent over Sam Huckvale for the only first-half score. Evesham kept Welsh pinned back in the second period with Michael Diston scoring twice after a chip by Sam Hopkins and Dale Attwood’s break.

Hopkins converted and added a penalty before Welsh scored a deserved late try.

Pershore crashed 76-8 at high-flying Bedworth in Midlands Three West (South), while Bredon Star beat lowly Old Colstonians 34-7 in Gloucester Division One.
