FORWARD Adam Mann's controversial equaliser earned Evesham United an eventful 2-2 draw at Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West mid-table rivals AFC Totton.

Mann also put the Robins ahead but his early strike was countered by goals from Nathaniel Sherborne and Nick Watts as Totton pursued a third success in a row.

In an open, frantic game, Neil Williams missed a third-minute chance for the Southampton hosts before Mann nodded in Lewis Binns' cross 10 minutes later at the other end.

A similar goal pulled Totton level on 18 minutes as Sherborne headed home at the back post from Watts' delivery following a quick burst down the left flank.

Evesham midfielder Nick Stanley passed a fitness test before the game and forced keeper Steve Mowthorpe into a diving save from a 25-yard free-kick before half-time.

The visitors bossed the early stages of the second period at the Testwood Stadium without scoring.

Totton made them pay on 53 minutes when midfielder Watts beat keeper Kevin Sayer after being found by Sherborne's defence-splitting pass.

But United hit back to level eight minutes later as Mann's firm effort from a Jacob Sloggett cross was ruled to have crossed the line despite the efforts of the scrambling Mowthorpe.

Eighth-placed Evesham could have gone on to win the clash and Mann was denied a potential hat-trick by the on-song keeper from a one-on-one opportunity.
