MORE than 40 business people attended the first meeting in Worcester of the Worcestershire Networking Business Hub, which has been formed to improve business communication across the county. Held at Worcester Racecourse, the Hub was given an official send-off by Worcester's MP Robin Walker, who was guest speaker.

IT'S full steam ahead at Severn Valley Railway after more than 100 people registered their interest in volunteering at the heritage attraction during a job fair. The Railway hosted a volunteer job fair at Kidderminster Station to coincide with its members and shareholders weekend. Jobs on offer included train crew, booking offices, footplate/motive power department, SVR charitable trust, carriage and wagon and station staff.

ROBIN Walker has thrown his weight behind a Government initiative for business leaders to mentor promising students in their fledgling careers. The Worcester MP, who campaigns on education and skills as a former businessman, is backing the announcement by skills and enterprise minister Matthew Hancock, that under new guidance for schools, pupils will be inspired and mentored by employers and business leaders to pursue ambitious careers.
