I READ Mr Lambkin’s letter in favour of a Sainsbury’s supermarket in Moreton-in-Marsh.

I can only assume he does not live on the south side of Moreton, and so would not be adversely affected by noise and light pollution and would not have his property covered in floodwater due to unsuitable development.

Does he realise that Sainsbury’s is not considering a large supermarket which would stock a wide variety of goods? The proposal is for yet another small supermarket necessitating journeys to Evesham, Stratford or Cheltenham for anything like the wide range of products we would like.

Has he never tried to drive along the A429 where traffic backs up even on comparatively quiet days?

Does he think that jobs would be created, even though the same people would only be employed at a different venue as town centre shops closed?

Does he think people would walk out to the proposed site rather than drive?

I may be a NIMBY but I can see no real benefit for Moreton.

Maybe Mr Lambkin should move to a large town and enjoy the hustle and bustle of 24-hour shopping and non-stop noise instead of the peace we enjoy in Moreton.

Or can we find a suitable site next door to Mr Lambkin’s house so he can enjoy seeing the supermarket?
