I WRITE to express my concern over the proposed development in Moreton-in- Marsh of a Sainsbury’s supermarket.

Moreton is ably served by a number of small local shops and a sizeappropriate supermarket, Budgens, already.

Adding an extra one, of the size and scale proposed by Sainsbury, is completely out of keeping, especially when there is another supermarket chain, Tesco, just a few miles away in Stow along the same stretch of road.

The rural character of Moreton and further development along the A429 will change these independent towns into just one long road of super shops, much the way whole stretches of the outskirts of Cheltenham have become.

We live in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and we also have thriving town and village shops. Please help us maintain all of this by opposing this new Sainsbury development.
