SAINSBURY'S has now put in for planning consent for the supermarket in Moreton.
One of the main points of their argument is that the proposed site is “not on a flood plain”.
Unsurprising as the Environment Agency's definition of a flood plain is “the area that would naturally be affected by flooding if a river rises above its banks”.
The southern end of Moreton is not affected by river flooding, it becomes flooded by run-off from the hills in heavy rain.
What an irrelevant argument when flooding is a major concern for residents.
