North Cotswold Tri & Run members were inspired by England getting though to the semi final of the World Cup, as many members achieved great results in hot conditions last Saturday.

In the Gauntlet middle distance triathlon at Hever Castle which included the British Championships, Lucy Walmsley was thrilled to be crowned British V45 champion with a time of 5:33:09. Lucy took off on the 1.9k swim that included a narrow river section and despite it not being her strongest swim, she still left the water in third place in her age category.

A tough 56 miles of a hilly bike course saw her pull away to lead her age category and move up to 10th overall. The hilly theme continued into the 13.1 mile run made even tougher as it was all on trail rather than road. As temperatures soared she moved up to 7th overall. This secured her 2nd British championship title in a month and means she currently holds the Standard, Middle and Full Ironman British V45 Triathlon titles.

At the ITU World Duathlon Championships in Denmark, Marie Brush and her husband Phil were representing Team GB with Marie thrilled to take the bronze medal in her V40 age category with a time of 1:09:56. Phil just missed out on a podium place, finishing 4th in his V35 category with a time of 1:45:55.

In the Enigma Need For Speed Marathon in Milton Keynes where temperature soared to 30 degrees, Steve Edwards had to battle for his 829th marathon finish, crossing the line in 3:27:47 for 1st V55 and 4th place overall.

Mike Hobbs took on the Evesham 10k, again in tough hot conditions he managed to finish 2nd V40 and 12th overall in a time of 39:32.

The hot conditions didn't phase Ann Hillary and Kelly Read either as they were delighted to finish joint winners in the tough Fan Dance Summer Edition 2018 Clean Fatigue event, which is a 15 mile SAS and SBS selection event held at the Brecon Beacons, going up and down Pen Y Fan twice.
