BOURTON Vale picked up their first win of the season after a straightforward 104-run victory at home to Charlton Kings.

Matthew Rose picked up bowling figures of 3-15 in 3.4 overs as the hosts bowled their opponents out for just 144 in a bid to chase down Bourton's 248 all-out.

Will Faulkner added 50 off 49 deliveries following decent knocks from James Vlaeminck (32), Mark Whitney (47) and Oliver Lockey (32) as the home side built a decent enough score.

But a spread of the wickets across the bowling unit helped Bourton to the win, with Rose being the pick of the bunch.

The victory moved Bourton up into fifth in the West of England Premier League Gloucestershire division, whilst Kings remain down in eighth.

Elsewhere in the division, a first win for Frocester 2nds ensured a first defeat for Dumbleton, Richie Cave claiming 5-46 from ten while Rhys Lamplugh (66) and Alex Ireland (52) impressed with the bat as the point were bagged with three wickets and one ball in hand.

Moving into the Cotswold Hills League Premier, Shipston-on-Stour went down by five wickets at Exhall and Wixford.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, Shipston posted 230-8 in their 45 overs. No one was able to reach a half-century in runs, there will valuable scores from the likes of Jamie Shurmer (49), Jack Murphy (39), Daniel Knight (34) and Tom Cox (31), but none were able to push on.

And that was ultimately the difference in the end as a century for William Green did the damage, the hosts reaching the runs required with three overs to spare.

Bretforton moved to second place in the same league after a huge 185-run win over Alcester & Ragley.

Christian Parry (77) and former Worcestershire batsman Daryl Mitchell (73) contributed a large portion of their 322-6, with Jake Harris (55) also registering a half-century.

Bretforton then bowled out their visitors for just 137 runs in the 40th over.
